Tinnitus

Many people confuse tinnitus for a disease. It is a sound perception that happens in the  human ear without corresponding sound from external sources. Many people experience tinnitus at one point or another in their lives. People with extreme tinnitus cases will always experience problems while working, sleeping and even hearing. Tinnitus itself is not a disease but it can result from various underlying causes. These may include the following;

-Infections to the ear

-Exposure of the ear to abnormally loud sound. The duration of such exposure does not matter

- Allergies to the nasal cavity which may cause or prevent fluid drain or cause build up of wax.

-  Entry of external objects into the ear

Tinnitus can be experienced in many parts of the hearing system and requires tinnitus relief. These include the brain, the inner ear, middle ear and the outer ear. Some tinnitus is normal and is more frequently identified in white persons. Tinnitus is more prevalent in US than it is in the South and North east.

Tinnitus occurs in different forms. These include the following;

-  Objective Tinnitus: This is the kind of tinnitus where your doctor may hear the sounds sometimes when listening for it carefully.

-  Sometimes individuals hear roaring, buzzing, whistling, hissing, high-pitched ringing or cricket sounds

-  Pulsatile or clicking tinnitus: this is where an individual hear a noise that accompany the heartbeat.

-  Subjective tinnitus: This is the most common type of tinnitus. This is where an individual hears a voice that can not be heard by others.

Tinnitus can be a symptom of other health problems such as high blood pressure, allergies, tumors, among others. In most cases, tinnitus is not a serious health problem but a nuisance. This is because it can cause serious disturbance to the persons having it. Many people wait for it to just go away without medical treatment. However, there are some who may require surgical or medical treatment. The treatment will depend on the causes.
